Freedom isn't Free!

Patriotism - Time to vent

Taken from my Blog - 9-11-09

Hi all, I seem to got through this from time to time. VENTING and RANTING!

30 days ago I put the Single album - REMEMBRANCE 911 for sale. It originally came out just after the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center. I gave all proceeds from the album to the New York Disaster Relief Fund to help the victims families and survivors.

I sold thousands and thousands of Singles. Then the anniversary comes in Sept. 11, 2002. Less purchasers.
Now it is 2009 and in the last 30 days I have had NOT ONE single purchaser. I am still waiting for at least a thank you from someone in New York. Nothing! I am sorry, but that just pisses me off to no end.
Now lets go to our boys in Iraq and Afghanistan. The word comes out that the troops want to hear good ole USA Rock music. They are tired of hearing Middle Eastern Music.

So, I come up to bat and say, I will send you Music. I ask the people/fans to help out. They purchase a Pop/Rock album and I will donate an album to the US boys fighting in both Foreign countries.
I get 100 orders.. The rest just ignore and walk by the web page, listen to the music, make compliments and walk away never buying the album.
So out of my own money, because I promised I would send Pop/Rock albums over seas. I Send out 2,000 albums to Iraq and 1,000 to Afghanistan. The Shipments were sent to chaplains.
I got one thank you from a US soldier. Not one thank you from my connection (the chaplains) and no other word or gratitude.

2 years go by and I finally get a US Dog tag with my name on it saying I am a Donator. No letter, no thank you, nothing else since but a frikken dog tag which by the way I already lost it.
Yet, I get from Vets all kinds of Spam to support the troops. WTF? Your kidding me right?
3,000 plus albums cost me a fortune. Sending all proceeds to New York cost me a fortune as well with the 911 Single. One thank you from one soldier and nothing from NYC.
This is a very cold hearted country and people always tell me otherwise all the time.
I Sent over $3,000 to the Indonesia Tsunami that hit a few years back. I got thank you'd from AmeriCares and other Organizations for my contribution.

I have had people call me un-patriotic because I wave my hands off when someone tells me to support the troops or wear a WTC pin. They look at me with contempt yet they don't know what I did.
I expected many supporters with both the Pop/Rock Albums and now with the Remembrance 911 single. I got very few and with Remembrance 911, today I have had not one order. That's a Damn Shame! A Real Damn Shame!
No, do not preach to me that not all people are the same. Because it cost me dearly in many more ways than one.

Someone asked me if I spent a lot. I don't have the books for Remembrance 911 in front of me. But thousands and thousands were sent out with proceeds going to NYC Relief.

As for the US Troops? Cost me at the time, $7 per CD.

$7X30000 = $$$ you do the math. Its not the money that gripes me. Its the cold attitude towards 911 today and the cold attitude with the US Troops. I wont even give my opinion of one email from one soldier and a cheap dog tag with no letter.
